"No Man's Land" World War One Centenary Garden
Designer: Charlotte Rowe
Landscape Contractor: Brian Herbert - Outdoor Options
Water Feature Contractor: Fairwater Ltd
Awarded: Gold

Description: "The garden marks the centenary of World War One and is being created in partnership with ABF The Soldiers' Charity and with the support of Bechtel and Coutts.  The aim of the Garden is to remember this conflict and reflect how the landscape of the Western Front, though changed forever, has regenerated and ‘healed.’ This is a metaphor for the effect of war on the human body and spirit and its capacity to recover.  The garden is conceptual and aims to represent aspects of the landscape of the chalk downlands of the Somme where many battles were fought..."  The full description can be read at Charlotte's website here.
